Understanding the HVAC System
The building's HVAC system functions in either heating or cooling mode—but not both at the same time. Switching between modes is a complex process that takes several days, so the system remains in heat mode from October until June, in compliance with regulations. Unfortunately, this change is beyond the control of 2 Cats and unit owners—only G3 has the authority to make adjustments.
What This Means for You
Your individual HVAC unit will only function in the mode that the building wide system is set in.
June through September: Air Conditioning
October through May: Heat
How to Use Your ERV System In the Spring to Cool Your Home
Your ERV system will bring cool air in from the outside using the Ventilation Setting. This is perfect in the spring when the building's heating and cooling system is required to stay in heat mode, and the temperature in your apartment is too warm, but the air outside is cool.
To do so please follow this list in order:
Set the Fan to level 3 (three lines – the highest setting). If it feels too cold, you can lower it.
Set the ERV to Ventilation. Use the setting with a house icon showing an arrow pointing in from the left and out to the right.

Adjust Your Thermostat – This Is Critical!
Set your thermostat to heat mode.
Set the temperature to 22°C.
Set the fan to Auto.
Why is this important? If your thermostat is set to A/C, the system will continuously try to cool your space but will actually blow hot air, making your unit warmer instead of cooler.
Set your ERV System To Assist the Heating and Cooling System
Your ERV (Energy Recovery Ventilator) brings fresh air into your home while removing stale indoor air. At the same time, it helps balance the temperature and humidity between the two, which means cleaner, more comfortable air inside.
When you’re using your heat or air conditioning, you should set the ERV to "Regenerate" mode:

this is is the button that has a house icon and two arrows on the left side pointing in and out
Then turn the ERV Fan to your desired setting (Low, Medium, High).
In this mode, the ERV adjusts the temperature of the fresh air it brings in so it matches the temperature inside your home.
Reset Your System if A/C Stops Blowing Cold
Sometimes, if the air conditioning has been running continuously for an extended period, it may stop producing cold air to prevent itself from freezing.
When you notice the temperature in your apartment rising and the air coming from the vents is no longer cool, you’ll need to reset the unit.
To do so please follow this list in order:
Before proceeding turn off the ERV (press whatever speed button is glowing)
Then shut the heating and cooling system down use The Mode button (3 Lines) and click until the screen displays OFF
Listen to hear everything shut down
Wait for at least 2 minutes after it has fully shut down
Use The Mode Button (3 lines) to turn the heating and cooling system ON in AC mode (the snowflake ❄️ indicator)
Use The Fan Button to set the fan to high
You will hear the system will start up
Wait for the click sound
Use the Up and Down Buttons to Set the Temperature to 24
You should now feel chilled air coming through your vents.
Once the air coming out of your vents is cooled you can turn your ERV back on to "Regenerate" mode:

this is is the button that has a house icon and two arrows on the left side pointing in and out.
Then turn the ERV Fan to your desired setting (Low, Medium, High).
